About the Course
Come look through the porthole of history during this History Under the Sea - An Expedition of Underwater Archaeology! Learn how social studies, math and science converge, bringing alive our amazing coastal histories where pirates explore the high seas in search of treasure! Hands-on exploration teaches American history through the science of underwater archaeology, from prehistoric Native Americans to Spanish explorers and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Curriculumn
The program not only teaches the scientific method and practical techniques, but it also emphasizes how interrelated social studies, math and science are in the real world! It demonstrates the importance of learning the various subjects by applying them to the discipline of underwater archaeology:
• Learn techniques that underwater archaeologists use to find ancient artifacts left behind
• Uncover, observe and categorize your archaeological treasures!
Course Format
During the one hour in-class field trip, you will join Youth Environmental Alliance ecology and biology experts for a fun-filled class. Or join us for a field-trip to Florida’s beaches for a life size hands-on archaeology dig! Field-trip option is available at additional cost.
