About the event
Students will gain a deeper understanding of how mangroves, seagrass beds, and sandy shores work together to support Florida’s biodiversity — and how we can all play a role in keeping these ecosystems healthy.
Program includes:
Mangrove Lesson & Exploration – Learn about the three types of mangroves, their adaptations, and how they protect our coastlines.
Fishing & Ethical Angling or Seine Netting & Microscopic Study – Practice sustainable fishing techniques or collect and observe marine life using seine nets, then study your finds under a microscope.
Guided Coastal Walk – Engage in a sensory “I Spy” adventure to identify native plants and wildlife while exploring the shoreline.
Eco-Action Project – Participate in a stewardship activity to help protect and preserve this unique coastal environment.
