Joe Davis

Educator

My name is Joey Davis, and I am an environmental educator at YEA! Growing up, I always had an interest in the natural world. My parents encouraged me to be outside, play in the dirt, and sometimes shared their very limited knowledge of native wildlife, sparking my passion as I got older. I graduated from the magnet program for environmental science and Everglades restoration at South Plantation High School, where I first encountered Yea! The hands-on activities were always my favorite part of the program. Their enthusiasm, passion, and interpretations stuck with me and helped me better understand the beautiful state I grew up in. I had no idea where the Everglades was or what it was until they took us out there, and I grew up in South Florida most of my life! Since graduating and pursuing my environmental science degree, I still want to take action in whatever way I can to combat climate change and protect the Everglades. Whether it is volunteering, being mindful of my consumption, continuing my education, or supporting natural parks in my free time, I want to do everything I can. Environmental education is important in helping people build connections between themselves and the natural world. Through these connections, we can foster a deep respect for the environment and advocate for a better planet for everyone. I am very excited to be part of the team and continue the cycle of educating and inspiring the youth to take environmental action!
