Magic of Butterfly gardening is an experiential program where your students become Lepidopterists and learn pollinator importance and planting for pollinator recovery. This program can be completed in as little as an hour 1-hour creating take-home butterfly pots, or we can create a robust on-location garden tailored to your space!

During this experiential program, you will learn the importance of pollinators to our ecosystem, how insects rely on host plans as well as well as nectar source plants, and how to create needed habitat and migratory byways for pollinating birds, butterflies and bees.

Become a lepidopterist and a butterfly!

• Identify Larval host plants and the caterpillars that eat them
• Hands-on-Classroom Activity: Introduction to pollinators including which plants pollinators need to grow and thrive.
• Shovels 101: Introduction to how to use a shovel, proper digging and planting techniques. Shovels are provided by YEA.
• Planting and Watering: Participants of all ages will plant the right plant in the right place for the best garden success. Learn to plant butterfly larval-host and nectar plants.
• Program Costs: May include plant selection for the site plant ordering (discounted prices for the program), pick-up and delivery. Each person takes home a plant seedling for pollinators in their own gardens.
