Charlotte Johnson
Environmental Educator
Charlotte Johnson was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. This location surrounded her with biodiversity and beautiful ecosystems throughout her childhood; therefore, she knew that she wanted to spend her life learning about nature and sharing this knowledge with others. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Environmental Sciences and a minor in Biology. During this degree, she earned a spot on the Dean’s or President’s list each semester, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Nevertheless, her curiosity was not abated, so she continued to expand her environmental knowledge by attending the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences to obtain her Master of Science in Forest Ecology and Sustainable Management. This university was the fourth best university in the world for agriculture and forestry, according to the QS World University Ranking, at the time of her attendance, and has since become the third best.
She is determined to learn no matter where she goes, and this grit drives her to promote conservation efforts and scientific knowledge throughout her community. This pursuit of knowledge allowed her to obtain a certificate in Climate Advocacy from Environment North Carolina and become an Educator. She worked as an Outdoor Educator at Mountain Trail Outdoor School at Kanuga after graduating from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and now she will continue her career as an Environmental Educator with Youth Environmental Alliance.
