Spring has sprung, and the Youth Environmental Alliance is gearing up for some exciting ways to dive into caring for our planet. This season is full of earth‑focused celebrations that inspire people everywhere to take action and make a difference. Let’s explore a few of these special days and see how you can join in.

International Day of Forests (March 21)

Created in 2012, the International Day of Forests highlights the importance of forests across the globe. Each year brings a new theme, and this year’s focus, “Forests and Economies,” reminds us how vital forests are to communities and livelihoods worldwide. Events are often hosted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, but people everywhere find meaningful ways to honor the day.

World Water Day (March 22)

Observed every year on March 22, World Water Day shines a light on the importance of both freshwater and saltwater ecosystems. Communities all over the world hold events to promote water conservation and support access to clean water. Nonprofits, schools, and local groups often host workshops, festivals, and outreach programs that make learning about water protection fun and engaging.

Earth Day (April 22)

Each spring, millions of people celebrate Earth Day by taking part in activities that help protect our planet. From planting trees to picking up trash along beaches and parks, this day brings people together for hands-on action. Across the country, you’ll find outdoor festivals, film screenings, nature walks, and countless opportunities to get involved and give back.

Arbor Day (April 24)

Held on the last Friday of April, Arbor Day encourages communities to plant trees and learn why they matter. Trees help fight climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Many neighborhoods, schools, and organizations gather to plant trees and share knowledge about how important they are for a healthy future.
